Whether it is 2nd grade Brownies or 12th grade Ambassadors, our troops go camping. Each troop chooses their own activities and many choose to be outdoors. Camping is progressive. Our youngest camp in cabins.
Almost every troop in our Service Unit, from Daisies to Ambassadors, participates in our annual S.P.A.R.K. camping weekend: a fun-filled weekend with workshops, a scavenger hunt, campfire sing-along and cabin camping.
We are very proud that Wrentham/Plainville Girls have won the Operation Snowflake Competition several times. Operation Snowflake is a winter camping competition for girls in grades 6-12: Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.
The girls complete in many categories, including, but not limited to; lashing, fire building, compass, constellations, camp cooking, sawing, flag design, and dog sled race. They also have to pass inspections for being prepared to camp, because they spend the night in a tent in February. Temperatures have sometimes been -4F degrees. Between competitions, the girls prepare all their own meals for the weekend.
