What the well-dressed Cub Scout is wearing!
(or what parents need to know about Cub Scout Uniforms)
Uniforms are an important part of the Cub Scout experience. They show others that we are proud to be part of a worldwide organization that has helped develop boys into good leaders for many years.
In the USA, we see men and women in uniform in police departments, fire departments, and the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Like these professionals, our wear of the uniform must be right at all times.
Here are a few tips for parents about what the well dressed Cub Scout wears. The hat, shirt, and neckerchief are the most visible aspect of the Cub Scout uniform. The distinctive blue color makes Cub Scouts stand out as someone special. The patches on the uniform identify the unit or group the boy belongs to as well as his personal accomplishments or achievements like rank awards and arrow points. These awards are sewn onto the shirt.
Scouts in Pack 164 should have the following items:
- Official Scout uniform shirt (blue); can be short or long sleeved
- Neckerchief for your Den
- Neckerchief Slide for your Den
- Official Scouting blue web belt
- Belt buckle that matches for your Den
- Scout handbook for your Den level
- Navy blue cargo pants, navy blue shorts, jeans or jean shorts; with belt loops for holding the belt
- Baseball hats are optional for Tigers, Wolves and Bears
- Webelos must have either the Webelos Colors or Baseball Cap
Scouts need the following patches on their Uniforms:
- Pack Numerals "1", "6" and "4"
Optional items:
- Baseball hat that matches your Den
- Official Scouting Navy blue Scout Switchback shorts/pants
