The privacy of individuals must be respected and protected, especially that of youth. Private data should not be posted without permission, and this site will never intentionally collect any data concerning its visitors or share anything with third-parties. We will not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation. Please contact us if you find something on this site that concerns you. Here are some guidelines that we like to follow:
We take youth protection seriously, as does the Diocese of Winona and the Boys Scouts of America. All adults working with youth under the auspices of the Diocese of Winona must be Virtus® trained. This would apply to Catholic religious emblems counselors, those assisting with Catholic Scout retreats or activities, and members of the Winona Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. Since, as of 2018, Scouting units in our diocese are no longer sponsored by Catholic organizations, Virtus® appears to not be required of Catholic adults working with Scouts. Contact the Diocese of Winona or your local parish if you have questions. All registered Boy Scout leaders and all religious emblems counselors and facilitators must complete the BSA's Youth Protection Training. An adult may never work one-on-one with a youth. There are no exceptions, other than a parent may work alone with his or her child and no other youth are present. However, it is highly recommended that all parents also complete both training sessions.
